On the afternoon of July 16, Kylian Mbappe signed a 5-year contract with Real Madrid, officially introducing himself to fans at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Kylian Mbappe walked out of the Bernabeu tunnel, waving to 80,000 fans, just like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo did 15 years ago.
“Good afternoon everyone,” he said. “Permit me to speak in Spanish. I have dreamed of this day for so many nights, the day I get to play for Real Madrid. Thank you, President, for believing in me. We have worked together to get me here. My family is here, my mother is crying down there.”
Kissing the Real Madrid logo, Kylian Mbappe tearfully shared: “Thank you Madristas for always loving me. Now I have another dream, which is to bring more titles to the club. I will dedicate everything for Real Madrid.”
The French superstar walked around the stadium, kicking balls into the stands to the delight of the fans.
The ceremony ended at 13:15 (local time).
Mbappe was a phenomenon in world football when he won the World Cup at the age of 20. At the club level, he won 6 Ligue 1s and 4 French Super Cups. Mbappe and PSG won the domestic quadruple in the 2019/20 season, and led the team to the first Champions League final in history in 2020.
In the summer of 2024, Mbappe signed a 5-year contract with President Perez at the Valdebebas complex. The striker born in 1998 receives a salary of 15 million euros/year, much lower than the figure at Paris Saint Germain.
Kylian Mbappe received a 150 million euro bonus from the Los Blancos board. This amount is paid over a 5-year period, considered a loyalty gift for Mbappe.
Thus, each year Mbappe will receive 15 million euros in salary, plus 30 million euros in contract bonus.
