Kylian Mbappe officially joins Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe joined the Royal team on a free transfer, because his contract at PSG had just expired.

Right after Real Madrid's homepage announced the "blockbuster" deal, their website crashed and was inaccessible for several minutes due to overload.

The newly crowned Champions League champions released a statement that read: "Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Kylian Mbappe, who will be with the club for the next five seasons."

The French striker took a pay cut to join the Santiago Bernabeu, receiving 15 million Euros/year after tax, lower than the 25 million Euros/year that Mbappe earned at PSG.

Reliable sources say that Real Madrid paid Mbappe a signing bonus of up to 100 million Euros. This is still a very good number for the Royal team when compared to the real value of this 25-year-old player.

On his personal page, Mbappe posted a status with a series of photos of him wearing a Real shirt when he was young: "The dream has now come true.

It is a great feeling and a great honor to join my dream club. I feel so excited right now. I can't wait to meet the Madridistas. Thank you for your great support."

Moving to Madrid, Mbappe will further increase the firepower of Real's already strong attack, including Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Joselu and young talent Endrick.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has a pleasant headache when choosing personnel. Mbappe will most likely be used more in the middle, while the wings will continue to be the place for the Brazilian duo.
