Po helped DreamWorks and Universal pocket $58.3 million over the past three days at North American theaters, according to data from film market research firm Exhibitor Relations, as Hollywood films recorded positive results after a bad start to the year. In addition, the film also earned $22 million at other box offices around the world.

Analyst David A. Gross said this is a good revenue for the fourth part of the animated series, accordingly "Kung Fu Panda 4" is in the group of high-grossing animated films including "Toy Story," "Despicable Me/Minions," "Ice Age" and "Shrek".

Kung Fu Panda 4 is a thrilling mythological adventure when Po (voiced by Jack Black) - now the spiritual leader of the Dragon Warrior of the Valley of Peace - is asked by his master (Shifu - voiced by Dustin Hoffman) to find and train a new generation of warriors to succeed him. Suddenly, the green Chameleon witch (voiced by Viola Davis) with unparalleled strength and strange transformation ability, takes over Po's magical Zen staff, wants to defeat the panda to become the hero.

Following the box office success of the first film in 2008, which grossed nearly $632 million worldwide, the sequels Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 were released in 2011 and 2016, respectively. The three films brought DreamWorks and Universal a total of $1.8 billion at the global box office, making Kung Fu Panda the 10th highest-grossing animated film series of all time.
