Still jubilant after the State visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam with high expectations for a new step forward in bilateral relations, overseas Vietnamese in the Russian Federation were surprised and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese in the Russian Federation, Do Xuan Hoang, shared the feeling of grief and loss that is spreading among overseas Vietnamese. All Vietnamese in Russia consider this a great loss for the nation and for every Vietnamese person, whether at home or abroad.
According to Mr. Do Xuan Hoang, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a worthy successor of revolutionary predecessors, national heroes, those who devoted their whole lives to the country and people, contributing to building an independent, free and prosperous Vietnam.
Overseas Vietnamese can clearly see that under the leadership of the Party headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the country's economic and foreign policies have been very effective, helping to enhance the position of overseas Vietnamese, creating conditions for them to do business, live, develop, and stabilize long-term in foreign countries.
According to him, the best way to remember and pay respect to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is to continue to follow his example of purity, dedication to work, and contribution to the cause of building and defending the country.
For Permanent Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese in the Russian Federation, Lecturer at Moscow State University of Railways (MITT) Tran Phu Thuan, the four times he met and shook hands with the General Secretary have now become priceless memories of a great leader, a close, simple person who won everyone's affection.
Mr. Tran Phu Thuan affirmed that it was his shining example of morality and his life of dedication to the country and the people that helped General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gain the absolute trust of the people. The passing of the General Secretary is a great loss to the Vietnamese people, to the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation and to Russian friends. Over the past few days, Mr. Thuan has received many condolences from Russian friends.
Remembering the two times the Vietnamese people in the Russian Federation were welcomed by the General Secretary, Ms. Pham Thanh Xuan, an active member of the Vietnamese community in Russia, shared that despite the very busy schedule of the visit, the General Secretary always took the time to meet the people and ask about their living conditions.
She was honored to represent the community both times to convey to the General Secretary the thoughts and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese.
What left a deep impression on her was that in such a meeting, after answering all the questions, the General Secretary walked down to the people, shook hands with many people and asked her: "Is my answer okay?"
Touched by the warm feelings that the General Secretary has for the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation, Ms. Xuan confided that simplicity and humility are what everyone needs to learn from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
As a scientific researcher and Director of the “Tradition and Friendship” Foundation in the Russian Federation, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung highly appreciated the theoretical works of the General Secretary through the times he was honored to participate in commenting, typically the work “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam” which is fundamental and highly topical.
Remembering the highest leader of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung always kept in mind the simple advice of the General Secretary, that is, wherever you go, whatever you do, everyone must remember that you are Vietnamese and make international friends respect you and respect the beloved "S-shaped" country.
Although he has passed away, the lessons that the beloved General Secretary left behind, from simple to profound, from domestic to foreign affairs, from theory to practice, are still deeply engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese child in the Russian Federation.
During these days, Russian friends also sent their condolences to the Vietnamese community.
Mr. Viktor Petrov, member of the board of directors of the Soviet Peace Fund and member of the Soviet Committee for Support of Vietnam, feels the pain that his beloved country is going through when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passes away, after the great achievements for Vietnam in recent years.
Expressing pride in having worked for 20 years in the Vietnam Support Committee since the Soviet era (the committee was under the direct leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union with the task of mobilizing public opinion to support the just cause of the Vietnamese people), Mr. Viktor Petrov shared his feelings when seeing that Vietnam today has completely "changed its skin" compared to the time he worked in the committee.
The "veteran" of the Soviet Union's team that fought for Vietnam in the past emphasized the steps of development, growth, prosperity, and the enormous changes in a positive direction.
All Soviet friends of Vietnam like Mr. Petrov wish to see a developed, prosperous, rich Vietnam and always be a sincere and loyal friend of the Russian people.
