With the gold medal in the men's doubles 3-string archery, Pham Tran Hoang and Hoang Ba Tai An have just won the Hai Duong archery team's second gold medal at the 2024 National Youth Archery Championship hosted by Hai Duong.
The first gold medal of the Hai Duong archery team was won by Pham Tran Hoang's younger brother, champion Pham Tran Bao Huy, on July 9 in the 30m 3-string bow - U17 event.
In addition to the two gold medals in the men's doubles, Pham Tran Hoang also won a silver medal in the men's 70m 3-string archery event. The two bronze medals of the Hai Duong delegation belonged to the archers: Hoang Ba Tai An in the men's 3-string archery all-around event; Hoang Ba Tai An, Pham Tran Hoang, Pham Tran Bao Huy in the 3-string archery team event.
Notably, before entering the National Youth Archery Championship this year, Pham Tran Hoang was found to have an infection related to the armpit area - where many muscle bundles are concentrated when lifting the bow and pulling the arrow. However, Pham Tran Hoang reported to coach Nguyen Xuan Thanh to be allowed to compete. Pham Tran Hoang said that when entering the competition, he put aside all pressure and forgot about the pain to have the highest concentration.
Coach Nguyen Xuan Thanh said the gold medal at this tournament showed Pham Tran Hoang's professional attitude, technical skills, and stable competitive mentality. At the same time, it affirmed the team spirit and good collective awareness of this athlete born in 2005.
After the tournament, two brothers Pham Tran Hoang and Pham Tran Bao Huy will join the national youth team to train until the end of 2024 according to the summons notice of the Department of Physical Training and Sports.
