Vietnam is extremely concerned, indignant, and resolutely protests the brutal treatment of Chinese law enforcement forces against Vietnamese fishermen and fishing vessels operating in the Hoang Sa archipelago.
On October 2, regarding the suppression, injury, and confiscation of property of Vietnamese fishermen on fishing boat QNg 95739 TS (Quang Ngai province) by Chinese law enforcement forces while operating in the Hoang Sa archipelago of Vietnam on September 29, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized:
The above actions of Chinese law enforcement forces have seriously violated Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, violated international law, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and gone against the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders on better control and management of disputes at sea.
Vietnam is extremely concerned, indignant and resolutely protests the brutal treatment of Chinese law enforcement forces against Vietnamese fishermen and fishing vessels operating in the Hoang Sa archipelago of Vietnam, causing injuries, threatening the lives and causing damage to the property of Vietnamese fishermen.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sternly communicated with the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi, strongly protesting the above-mentioned actions of Chinese law enforcement forces, demanding that China fully respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, promptly investigate and notify the results to Vietnam, and not repeat similar actions.
