Continuously fostering the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Relationship

The 78th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day took place solemnly in Tokyo with the participation of more than 500 guests, including representatives of the Japanese government, ministries, branches and diplomatic corps of various countries.

On the evening of September 6, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023) in Tokyo with the participation of more than 500 guests, including representatives of the Japanese government, ministries and branches; representatives of diplomatic corps of various countries and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu chaired the event.

In Tokyo, the ceremony on the Japanese side was attended by Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Union Nikai Toshihiro; Chairman of the Komeito Party, a partner of the Liberal Democratic Party in the ruling coalition, Yamaguchi Natsuo; Minister of Justice Saito Ken; Minister of Labor, Health and Welfare Kato Katsunobu; Minister of Reconstruction Watanabe Hiromichi; Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission Tani Koichi; Minister of Economic Revitalization Goto Shigeyuki and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan Takei Shunsuke.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu recalled the important historical milestone when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 2, 1945.

The Ambassador emphasized that over the past 78 years, the Party, State and people of Vietnam have tirelessly fought to protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, the nation's right to self-determination, freedom and happiness for the people; actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

In particular, in the process of implementing the Renovation Policy, with the valuable and effective assistance of international friends, Vietnam has achieved historic achievements in all fields.

Vietnam plays an increasingly important role in the Indo-Pacific region, is a good friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community; and wishes to work with other countries to promote globalization and international integration, towards a world of sustainable and inclusive development.

Ambassador Pham Quang HieuHe emphasized that over the past 50 years, Vietnam-Japan relations have developed continuously in all fields, especially since the establishment of the extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in 2014.

In the spirit of “affection, sincerity, trust, substance and efficiency” agreed upon by the two countries’ senior leaders, the Vietnam-Japan relationship is at its best with high political trust.

Also at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu read a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in which he highly appreciated the continuous strong development of the Vietnam-Japan Strategic Partnership in all fields.

The two countries have truly become good friends, together looking towards a bright future in the spirit of sincere, trustworthy, effective and practical affection.

Japanese Foreign Minister Takei Shunsuke read a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Ambassador believes that with high political trust, complementary potentials and strengths, and valuable cooperation support from the Japanese Government, the relationship between the two countries will enter a new stage of increasingly strong development and continue to bear fruit.

The Vietnamese community in Japan is constantly growing in solidarity, becoming a solid bridge, making practical contributions to the development of relations between the two countries, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development of the region and the world.

For his part, Japanese Foreign Minister Takei Shunsuke read a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The message affirms that the Vietnam-Japan friendship has never been as deep as it is today as the two countries celebrate the historical milestone of 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 50 years of ASEAN-Japan cooperation and friendship.

Vietnam is a key partner of Japan in realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific region. In the context of the current complex international situation, it is important that the two countries coordinate closely for the peace and prosperity of the region and the world.

Vietnam is also one of the important international partners of Japanese enterprises and one of the most promising investment destinations in ASEAN.

Besides, Vietnamese people living in Japan are a community that contributes greatly to the Japanese economy and society with about 500,000 people.

Prime Minister Kishida also expressed his hope for deeper cooperation in the Vietnam-Japan relationship in all areas in the future.

The celebration ended with gentle and soulful Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs, creating an impression of the elegant traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people.
