The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has requested localities to guide and direct farmers not to plant rice before Tet, but to sow on schedule.
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development deploys agricultural production plan to agricultural sector in localities
On the afternoon of December 22, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a preliminary review and implementation plan for the Project "Developing machine-planted rice area in the period 2020 - 2025"; the winter-spring crop production plan and the rat extermination plan in 2023.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that localities guide and direct farmers not to sow rice before Tet, sow according to the crop schedule, reduce early spring rice planting to below 7.5% of the area and reduce the area of pharmaceutical seedlings to avoid damage due to severe cold; increase the area of late spring rice to ensure safe rice flowering.
This winter-spring crop, the province plans to plant 54,000 hectares of rice and 10,000 hectares of vegetables. To protect agricultural production, localities will simultaneously organize 8 rat extermination campaigns. In addition to the provincial budget support for the first phase of concentrated rat extermination, localities need to balance their budgets to purchase rat extermination drugs for 1-2 phases to ensure effectiveness. The rat extermination campaign must be carried out simultaneously among localities and synchronously apply rat extermination measures using bait and manual methods.
Representatives of local agricultural sectors share difficulties and obstacles in implementing production plans.
Also at the conference, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development summarized the Project "Developing the area of machine-transplanted rice in the period of 2020 - 2025". In recent years, the machine-transplanted rice project has shown clear effectiveness, increasing productivity, quality and economic efficiency. Households with large land areas have applied synchronous mechanization in rice production from land preparation, machine transplanting, spraying pesticides to rice harvesting. In 2023, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to coordinate with localities to direct the implementation of 6 new tray-seeding production models, 4 expanded facilities and build 94 demonstration models with an area of 368 hectares, 58 expanded machine-transplanted models with a total area of over 627 hectares.
