18 defendants prosecuted in gambling case involving former Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee

On the evening of August 7, the Ministry of Public Security informed about the case of organizing gambling and illegal gambling at the Overseas Vietnamese Business Club, Hanoi Branch - King Club, involving former Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Ho Dai Dung and former Secretary of Hoa Binh City Party Committee (Hoa Binh Province) Ngo Ngoc Duc.

On June 22, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency coordinated with professional units to catch many subjects red-handed for organizing and illegally gambling at the Overseas Vietnamese Business Club, Hanoi Branch - King Club (Pullman Hotel, No. 40 Cat Linh, Cat Linh Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi), belonging to Viet Hai Dang Investment and Entertainment Services Company Limited.

On June 24, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "Gambling; Organizing gambling" occurring in Hanoi and other provinces and cities; issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain 5 people for the crime of "Organizing gambling", including: Nguyen Dinh Lam, Deputy General Director of Viet Hai Dang Investment and Entertainment Services Co., Ltd.; Phan Truong Giang, Director of the Overseas Vietnamese Business Club Branch of Viet Hai Dang Investment and Entertainment Services Co., Ltd.; Cho Choon Keun (Korean nationality); Choi Jin Bok (Korean nationality); Shim Hawn Hee (Korean nationality), manager at King Club.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security also prosecuted and temporarily detained 8 other people for the crime of "Gambling".

Expanding the investigation, on July 29, the Security Investigation Agency prosecuted and detained former Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Ho Dai Dung and Truong Xuan Danh (born in 1976, residing in Ba Dinh district, Hanoi) for the crime of "Gambling"; prosecuted and banned Le Kim Dong (born in 1969, residing in Dong Da district, Hanoi) from leaving his place of residence.

On August 5, the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Ngo Ngoc Duc, former Secretary of the Hoa Binh City Party Committee, for the crime of "Gambling".

Authorities are continuing to collect documents and evidence to expand the investigation of the case for handling according to the provisions of law.
