Inauguration of the bas-relief "Uncle Ho talking to the Vanguard Army" at Hung Temple

After more than 9 months of construction, the relief "Uncle Ho talking to the Vanguard Army" at the Gieng Temple Intersection, Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, donated by the Central Military Commission (Ministry of National Defense), was officially inaugurated on the morning of April 8 at the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, Viet Tri City (Phu Tho). This is a meaningful project completed and handed over on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in 2024.

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Tho province, along with a large number of people and tourists attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged, highly appreciated and welcomed the sense of responsibility, proactiveness, positivity, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of Phu Tho province, Military Region 2, Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, members of the art council, contractors and relevant agencies and units during the construction process; especially the completion and putting the project into use on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in the year of Giap Thin, towards the country's major anniversaries.

General Phan Van Giang requested the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Tho province to effectively and practically manage, preserve and promote the Bas-relief, contributing to educating patriotism, national pride and the revolutionary tradition of the Party, the ideology and great example of Uncle Ho, the spirit of great national solidarity and the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the heroic army of the heroic nation.

The General expressed his belief that with the strengths and potentials, historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of the homeland; the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of the province will continue to unite, join hands and overcome all difficulties and challenges, build Phu Tho to be more civilized, modern and sustainably developed; preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of the homeland with two representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity; develop Viet Tri city into a festival city to return to the roots of the Vietnamese people; closely combine socio-economic development with ensuring national defense and security; make Phu Tho become the leading developed province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains; together with the people of the whole country to firmly build and protect the Fatherland in the new period.

Mr. Le Truong Giang, Director of the Hung Temple National Special Historical Relic Site, said that after 9 months of construction, the project items have been completed on schedule, ensuring technical and aesthetic standards, meeting the conditions for handover and putting the project into operation to serve the people and compatriots, domestic tourists and foreign friends who visit Hung Temple every year. In particular, the project put into use on this occasion has timely served the flower offering activities to express gratitude for the merits and remember the advice of President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the Hung King's death anniversary - Hung Temple Festival and the Cultural Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in the year of Giap Thin 2024; at the same time, it is associated with the 70th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Hung Temple.

The relief work "Uncle Ho talking to the Vanguard Army" was invested in restoration and embellishment with 2 main items, including: The relief is made of reinforced concrete structure with an arc shape, 28.16m long, 10.99m high (including the pedestal); 30cm thick reinforced concrete wall is connected to a hanging system made of stainless steel box steel for installation, connected to the artistic part of the relief made of copper alloy.

The artistic part of the Bas-relief is basically kept intact based on the author's sculpture. The stone bas-relief was built in 2001, only expanding in scale, the shape is arc-shaped with a length of 28.16m, a height of 9.2m and the casting material is replaced with a copper alloy with an average thickness of 1.5cm. After being cast at the workshop, the bas-relief is assembled and welded directly at the site, connected to the reinforced concrete wall through a stainless steel box frame system.

Landscape infrastructure system items, yard, garden, lighting, trees are arranged synchronously for the project according to design.

On this occasion, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense offered incense to commemorate the Hung Kings; offered flowers and planted souvenir trees at the complex of reliefs "Uncle Ho talking to the Vanguard Army" at the Gieng Temple 5-way intersection, Hung Temple historical relic site.
