On December 22, in Hoi An city, Quang Nam Tourism Association coordinated with UNESCO Office in Hanoi and Tan Thanh Fishing Village tourism community (Cam An ward, Hoi An) to open the Hoi An 2022 Marine Environmental Installation Art Festival.
Chairman of Quang Nam Tourism Association Phan Xuan Thanh said that the Festival is an interesting playground at the end of the year, helping to connect the tourism business community, the local community with tourists from near and far, including the foreign community living and working in Hoi An. The main activities in the Festival include: Marine environmental installation art with works made from waste objects used in daily life and difficult to destroy, easily affecting the marine environment such as soft drink cans, plastic bottles, fishing gear and household waste. The highlight of the Festival is 18 installation art works forming the "Marine Environmental Art Road" with educational significance, raising community awareness in preserving the marine environment.
The festival also includes street art performances, Tan Thanh tourist fair, local and international food festivals. Through these activities, local communities, environmental protection organizations and tourists sign a commitment to protect the marine environment, minimizing the impact of daily activities on the sea. This is also a premise for Hoi An to soon realize its desire to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Christian Manhart, Head of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi, emphasized that the Hoi An 2022 Marine Environment Installation Art Festival is a community activity that demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and cooperation of many related partners. In addition to the sponsorship and patronage of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi and government agencies and organizations, the Festival also received the response and active participation of domestic and foreign businesses, organizations, individuals in Hoi An, especially the local community in Tan Thanh fishing village.

The Hoi An 2022 Marine Environment Installation Art Festival also sends a message calling on everyone to work together to protect parrotfish, help restore coral reefs, reduce the use of disposable plastic products, and change living habits in a direction that is beneficial to the ecological environment and marine environment.
