As the launch date approaches, more detailed information about the cameras on the two iPhone 16 Pro lines becomes clearer.
Apple is expected to launch 4 iPhones in early September, namely iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. An interesting piece of information recently revealed about the Pro line that has excited many Apple fans is that the 2 new devices will have an additional titanium bronze color, instead of the blue titanium color like the previous generation.
The most notable upgrade is probably the camera system with many obvious improvements. First, the entire iPhone 16 series will have a new Capture button, similar to the shutter button on digital cameras. According to reports, this will lead to design changes on the iPhone 16 series, especially in the US market, when the Capture button will be replaced by the mmWave panel for 5G connectivity. For this reason, the mmWave sensor will be moved to the other side of the phone.
Design-wise, the Capture button is unique in that it sits completely flush with the edge of the phone, without protruding like the power or volume buttons. This helps the iPhone’s design flow more seamlessly. But because of this design, the button is not a physical button, but a force-sensitive button, capable of recognizing different levels of pressure for a variety of optional tasks, such as focusing, taking a photo, or starting a video.
In addition, this button will also be quite long, making it easy to use your finger to slide back and forth to zoom the camera with one hand when operating.
Regarding the camera cluster, the iPhone 16 series usually does not have many differences when the main camera is still 48MP, while the ultra-wide camera will have a slightly larger aperture, from f/2.4 to f/2.2. In addition, the main camera may have the ability to take macro (super close-up) photos.
The biggest change will be on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to sources cited by Forbes, the 5X zoom camera will appear on both the Pro and Pro Max lines, instead of only on the Pro Max line like the iPhone 15. In addition, the ultra-wide camera will be upgraded to a 48MP sensor with the same quality as the main camera. Moreover, it can also combine pixels close together to produce 12MP photos with better quality than before.
