In this case, Dao Van Vinh (born in 1982, in Tien Lu district - Hung Yen) and Song A Hau (born in 1979, in Song Ma district - Son La) were the masterminds; the Trial Council sentenced all 5 defendants to death.

On May 26, the People's Court of Hung Yen province opened a trial of 5 defendants including: Dao Van Vinh (born in 1982, living in Tien Lu district - Hung Yen province); Song A Hau (also known as Song A Hau, born in 1979, living in Song Ma district - Son La province); Nguyen Thi Nguyet (born in 1987, living in Phu Cu district - Hung Yen province); Pham Van Quang (born in 1978, living in Hung Yen city - Hung Yen province) and Pham Van Tuan (born in 1980, living in Phu Cu district - Hung Yen province).
The defendants were prosecuted for the crimes of "Illegal drug trafficking" and "Illegal possession of drugs" under Clause 4, Article 251 and Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code.
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Hung Yen province, from the beginning of May 2022 to August 16, 2022, in Cuong Chinh village, Muong Hung commune, Song Ma district (Son La), Dao Van Vinh and Nguyen Thi Nguyet bought from Song A Hau 12 heroin cakes, total weight of more than 4,224.48 grams; 18 bags of methamphetamine, total weight of 374.796 grams and 22.526 grams of opium, brought them back to Hung Yen to divide and sell for profit.
Pham Van Quang and Pham Van Tuan knew that Vinh and Nguyet asked them to go to Song Ma to get drugs from Song A Hau to sell illegally, but they still agreed.
During June and July 2022, Pham Van Quang twice went to get four heroin cakes with a total weight of 1,408.17 grams and 18 bags of methamphetamine, with a total weight of 374.796 grams, to bring back to Hung Yen for Dao Van Vinh.
On August 14, 2022, Pham Van Tuan went to get four cakes of drugs with a total weight of 1,408.17 grams to bring back to Hung Yen to deliver to Dao Van Vinh, but was caught red-handed before he could deliver them. In addition, Tuan also stored 0.176 grams of methamphetamine for use.
In this case, Dao Van Vinh and Song A Hau were the masterminds and played the main roles; Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Pham Van Quang, and Pham Van Tuan played active roles in assisting Vinh and Hau in the illegal drug trafficking.
Based on the defendants' conduct and level of crime; the investigation results and considering the details and developments at the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced all 5 defendants to death.
Defendant Pham Van Tuan was also sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison for "Illegal possession of narcotics", the combined sentence for both crimes is death. In addition, the defendants must pay court fees and a number of additional penalties as prescribed by law.
