On the afternoon of August 23, Thanh Binh Kindergarten (Hai Duong City) organized a water puppetry performance right in the school yard.
This is one of the few schools in the province that brings water puppetry into the classroom. The performance attracted more than 500 students and parents from all grades.
The water puppet show at Thanh Binh Kindergarten is part of a series of summer activities, creating a useful playground for children to be exposed to the traditional art of their ancestors.
In 2012, the water puppetry folk performing art of Hai Duong was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In Hai Duong, the program “Cultural Heritage Education in Schools” has been organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2013 to bring the younger generation closer to heritage. Each year, the department selects a number of schools as pilot schools to implement the program.
Participating in the program “Cultural Heritage Education in Schools”, students can visit and experience local historical and cultural relics; participate in folk games… Up to now, thousands of students from localities in the province have experienced this program.
