More than 23 million students nationwide enter the new school year 2024-2025

Following the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training, the opening ceremony of the new school year was organized in a concise, solemn and meaningful manner, bringing teachers and students across the country a joyful spirit to enter the new school year. All schools held welcoming ceremonies for new students (grades 1, 6 and 10), saluting the national flag, singing the national anthem and listening to the reading of the President's letter to the education sector.

After the ceremony, many schools organize a variety of activities related to the school year's themes, or towards specific messages within the action program throughout the school year.

In the Directive sent to the education sector on the afternoon of September 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in order to effectively carry out the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year with the motto "taking students as the center; teachers as the driving force; schools as the support; families as the fulcrum; society as the foundation", the Ministry of Education and Training, relevant ministries, agencies and People's Committees of provinces and cities need to thoroughly resolve existing shortcomings.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training to continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and localities to review the number of teachers to propose additional staff for the 2024-2025 school year. At the same time, direct, inspect and urge localities to recruit teachers assigned by competent authorities and have appropriate and effective solutions to overcome the shortage of teachers, especially preschool teachers and teachers of new subjects according to the new general education program.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance to balance the budget for education and training, especially the funding to support localities in implementing the project to ensure facilities for preschool and general education programs in the 2017-2025 period, in accordance with regulations.

The Ministry of Education and Training coordinates with localities to review, arrange, and regulate preschool and general education teachers among educational institutions in the area to overcome the local surplus and shortage of teachers; and recruit teachers according to the number of positions assigned by competent authorities."In case there are not enough teachers recruited, arrange resources for contracts; research mechanisms and policies to attract teachers to work and stay long-term in the locality."The Prime Minister's directive clearly states.

Entering the new school year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the theme of the 2024-2025 school year is “innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline”. In the new school year, along with the whole country, the education sector continues to focus on implementing the major tasks assigned in the resolutions and major policies of the Party, National Assembly, and Government, continuing to innovate education and training.

"In the new school year, I hope that every manager, teacher and staff in the entire sector will continue to make new efforts, new determination, new solutions, and promote the fine traditions of the education sector to continue to develop Vietnamese education to meet the requirements and tasks assigned by the Party and State."The minister said.
