More than 1,000 athletes compete in the final round of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run 2024

On the morning of September 29, the final round of the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024 took place at Ba Kieu Temple and the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake, with the participation of 2,500 runners and 1,000 official competitors.

In her opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that after 48 times of organization, the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run continues to affirm itself as one of the traditional tournaments of Vietnam's athletics village. With the participation of 350,000 people, the number of athletes meeting the general standards at the grassroots level; the number of forces participating in the finals has increased significantly compared to previous tournaments, while ensuring professional requirements, the Tournament has truly been raised in both quality and scale, affirming its strong influence.

In particular, at the final, in addition to the professional competitions, the race also carried a very meaningful message for peace, contributing the voice of solidarity, humanity and determination towards a better future globally.

The 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024 was assigned by the Hanoi People's Committee to two agencies: Hanoi Moi Newspaper and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to co-organize. The enhanced content gathered more than 150 athletes from more than 20 provincial, municipal and industry units nationwide including: Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Son La, Public Security, Army..., universities, colleges and 30 districts, towns and cities of the capital to participate.

Athletes participated in 12 events at the following distances: 1,750m for men and women in middle and high schools of districts, towns and cities (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 1,750m for women in universities, colleges, vocational high schools and foreigners; 3,500m for men in universities, colleges, vocational high schools and foreigners (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m for women in production and armed forces (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 5,250m for men in production and armed forces (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake). In the advanced running event for athletes of provincial and municipal track and field teams, athletes competed in 5,250m for women; 8,750m for men (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).

In addition, the final round of the Race had about 200 foreigners from 20 countries in Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania register to run and sign the peace flag.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Nguyen Sy Truong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc went on stage to receive the donation from the Organizing Committee of the Award, donating 100 million VND to the Hanoi City Relief Fund to support flood victims.
