On the afternoon of December 6, in Vientiane, Lao PDR, the second plenary session and closing ceremony of the first Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam (CLV) Summit took place.
The first CLV National Assembly Summit was a great success, adopting a joint statement on strengthening the role of parliaments in promoting comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam.
The three National Assembly Chairmen signed a joint statement, reaffirming their commitment to further expanding and deepening parliamentary cooperation and partnership to maintain and protect close and mutually beneficial cooperation between the CLV National Assemblies, thereby promoting cooperation in the fields of politics, security, defense, culture, and economy for the socio-economic development of the three countries; strongly implementing the National Assembly's supervisory role in resolving outstanding issues for the common interests of the people in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area and the three countries. The joint statement also demonstrated the consensus of the three National Assemblies on cooperation priorities in the three pillars of politics - foreign affairs, defense - security, and economy - culture - society.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue spoke highly of the content of the conference's joint statement when it mentioned current issues of common concern to the three countries; at the same time, he affirmed the determination of parliamentary agencies to accompany the government in promoting cooperation in various fields and closely monitoring the implementation of signed agreements for the benefit of the people of the three countries.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that in today's volatile and complex world, with diverse forms of force gathering and fierce competition, strengthening and consolidating the cooperative relationship and solidarity among the three countries of Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam is more important than ever.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the three National Assemblies need to closely coordinate, support each other, and promote the supervision of cooperation agreements between the three countries, such as the overall orientation of the three-country relationship agreed upon by the three leaders of the three parties: strengthening the pillars of national defense and security, enhancing cooperation in foreign affairs; creating breakthroughs in economic cooperation, enhancing cooperation in culture, education, science and technology, tourism, and agriculture; further promoting cooperation between Party and State agencies, the National Assembly, the Fatherland Front, people's organizations, and localities of the three countries on the basis of promoting the potential and strengths of each country.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will closely coordinate with the Lao and Cambodian National Assemblies to continue promoting the role of the National Assembly in supervising the implementation of development plans more effectively; effectively organize the implementation of the contents agreed in the joint statement; and jointly promote the resolution of outstanding issues, moving towards the completion of the set development goals.
At the closing ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnamese National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received the handover from the Lao National Assembly of the responsibility of hosting the second CLV National Assembly Summit scheduled to be held in 2025.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully invited the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR to lead the delegations of the two countries' National Assembly to attend the activities of the second CLV National Assembly Summit in Vietnam, together creating a new mark for the cooperation of the three National Assemblies, contributing to strengthening the friendship and solidarity between the three countries.
