On August 21, the Council for Appraisal of the Project to recognize Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong) as a type III urban area of ​​the Ministry of Construction assessed that Kinh Mon met the criteria for a type III urban area.

On the morning of August 21, in Hanoi, the Appraisal Council of the Ministry of Construction held a conference to appraise the Project to recognize Kinh Mon town as a type III urban area.

According to the report at the conference, Kinh Mon's average economic growth rate in the last 3 years reached 9.39%. The growth rate of total product value in the town in 2023 reached 9.39%, 1.86 times higher than the gross domestic product (reaching 5.05%). Kinh Mon's average income per capita in 2023 reached 7.67 million VND/person/month, 1.59 times higher than the national average.

Kinh Mon has 4 industrial clusters Long Xuyen, Duy Tan, Phu Thu, Hiep Son basically filled; 6 industrial clusters have been established (An Phu, Thang Long, That Hung 1, That Hung 2, Quang Trung, Bach Dang). Notably, Kinh Mon is the first locality in Hai Duong to implement the project to build a logistics service center, port, oil depot and commercial service area, with a scale of 50 hectares, total investment of 1,400 billion VND.

Regarding urban management, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the Project to adjust the general planning of Kinh Mon town until 2040. This locality has paid attention to directing the establishment of general planning for construction of communes, urban zoning planning, ensuring the legal framework in management and attracting investment for urban development.

The management, exploitation and use of land, mineral resources and water resources have made much progress, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, in 2023, the number of poor households in Kinh Mon will be only 838, accounting for 1.35%. The population growth rate in 2023 will reach 1.27%.

In parallel with the project to propose recognition of meeting the criteria for a type III urban area, Kinh Mon is also actively implementing the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2030 period.

After listening to the report on Kinh Mon's socio-economic development indicators as well as comparing and evaluating the current development status of this locality in 2023 with the criteria and standards of a type III urban area, the Appraisal Council unanimously assessed Kinh Mon town as meeting the criteria of a type III urban area and requested that this locality accept the opinions at the conference and promptly complete the dossier to submit to the competent authority for approval.
