The results were announced on the evening of August 14. The organizing committee awarded medals in the scientific competition and prizes in the practical competition.
In the science section, the Vietnamese team (teams 1 and 2) won one silver medal and one bronze medal.
Team 2 won the silver medal. This group included three students from the IT class of the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University), namely Nguyen Tuan Hung, Nguyen Duc Anh Khoa, and Ta Hau Viet Long; and one student from the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, namely Phan Viet Hoang.
The bronze medal went to team 1, consisting of four students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted: Vu Le Anh Duc (grade 11 Physics 1), Ngo Viet Anh (grade 11 Oxford), Nguyen Dang Khiem (grade 11 Cambridge) and Pham Nam Khanh (grade 10 IT).
With two medals, the Vietnamese delegation ranked 6th out of 33 countries and territories in the science round, after Letovo, Poland, Singapore, China and Hungary.
In addition, both teams won bronze in the practical part.
This is the first year the IOAI competition has been held, taking place in Bulgaria from August 9 to 15. The competition is for high school students, with the aim of discovering and nurturing young talents in this field.
In the science section, teams will be given three problems to work on six weeks in advance. During the competition, the organizers will give three new problems, based on the given problems, and require teams to come up with solutions in the form of python code.
In the practical part, candidates have 2-4 hours to solve many problems, including testing, analyzing and explaining the behavior of AI systems, through software such as ChatGPT and DALL-E.
To participate in the final round, students from the Gifted High School and Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted won the national round, organized by the Research Institute for Innovation and Quality Assessment (RIVA) on June 29-30.
