24 universities announced medical tuition fees ranging from 27.6 to 200 million VND for the next school year, most of which have scholarships for excellent students or those in difficult circumstances.
Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, School of Medicine and Pharmacy (University of Danang) and Tay Nguyen University (Dak Lak) currently have the lowest tuition fee - 27.6 million VND for the 2024-2025 school year.
This level is equal to the tuition ceiling (the highest level that can be collected) set by the Government for the Medical and Pharmaceutical sector at non-autonomous public universities.
Other medical schools charge medical tuition fees of 31 million or more per year, because they are partially autonomous (paying their own salaries, allowances, repairing facilities...) or completely autonomous, and their training programs are quality-accredited.
The highest is Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy with 82.2 million VND, an increase of 10% compared to last year. Hanoi Medical University or Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine collects 55.2 million, unchanged.
In the private group, Hanoi University of Business and Technology has the lowest tuition fee of over 66 million VND for the next school year. On the other hand, Hong Bang International University (Ho Chi Minh City) has the highest tuition fee of 210 million VND.

Regarding scholarships, most schools have many types such as: scholarships for new students, for students with difficult circumstances or with excellent academic achievements.
There are more scholarships for new students in private schools with large support levels to attract candidates. For example, Phenikaa University (Hanoi) only charges 90 million VND for the first year, a 40% reduction compared to the official rate (about 150 million). The school said the discount rate for the following years will be lower.
During their studies, at all schools, students with good academic and training achievements (usually in the top 10%) will receive scholarships to encourage learning. These scholarships are usually divided into levels, from 25 to 100% of tuition fees.
Students with preferential policies, those in difficult circumstances or those with good academic performance can receive sponsorship from businesses or school funds. For example, Hanoi Medical University has 5 types of scholarships from alumni and donors with values ranging from 4 to 20 million VND each. In addition, schools also support students to borrow money from banks to cover study and living expenses.
According to Decree 81 of 2021 on public tuition fees, the ceiling tuition fee for the Medicine and Pharmacy group at non-autonomous schools is 24.5-35 million VND per year. Autonomous schools are allowed to collect tuition fees equal to 2-2.5 times the above level. With programs accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training or foreign organizations, schools are allowed to decide their own tuition fees.
However, due to the impact of Covid-19, the Government requested that tuition fees not be increased for three consecutive years. Since last year, universities have only started applying new tuition fees.
