Accidents continue to strike, causing the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Lo (58 years old) in Dong Cao village, Dong Xuyen commune, Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong), which was already in need, to fall into a deadlock.

Mrs. Tran Thi Lo's family situation in Dong Xuyen commune is very difficult.

We followed Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, President of the Women's Union of Dong Xuyen Commune, to visit Mrs. Lo's family in a small alley. In the old house that was built a long time ago, incense smoke still billowed from the altar of her son who passed away nearly a month ago. Talking to us, Mrs. Lo could only lie down because the recent surgery had prevented her from recovering. Next to her bed was her paralyzed husband. Witnessing this family situation made everyone choke up.

40 years ago, Mrs. Lo started a family with Mr. Tran Van Do and had 3 children. Unfortunately, her first and only son was mentally retarded and mentally ill. Although he was grown up, he was still as foolish as a 3-year-old child, sometimes breaking things and hitting family members. However, Mrs. Lo and her husband still loved their children very much and worked hard to make ends meet. Suffering from a bone and joint disease, Mrs. Lo did not dare to seek treatment for fear of the high cost.

Accidents suddenly struck again in mid-2023 when Mr. Do was working as a construction worker when a paint can fell from above and hit him. Mr. Do was taken to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment by his relatives. At that time, Mrs. Lo's bone and joint disease became more severe. The doctor diagnosed her with a herniated disc and required surgery.

Mrs. Tran Thi Lo's husband is paralyzed on one side and still needs long-term medical treatment.

Mrs. Lo sadly shared: “At that time, my husband and I were both hospitalized. The cost was very expensive, my family had to borrow nearly 200 million VND for treatment. The eldest son suffered from mental illness and now has kidney dilatation, in pain and screaming all day long.” After a period of treatment, her eldest son did not survive. Although her husband received timely treatment, he is still paralyzed on one side, unable to walk, and all his personal activities depend on the care of relatives.

In addition to the cost of borrowing money for treatment, currently, every month, Mrs. Lo and her husband still have to go to the hospital for check-ups and buy medicine for long-term treatment. "My two daughters are married, their economic conditions are not good, I feel sorry for my parents but my children only know how to ask and take care of them. Falling into such a difficult situation, I can only cry because I feel sorry for my husband and children," Mrs. Lo said sadly.

Knowing her family’s situation, the Women’s Union of Dong Xuyen commune mobilized sectors, organizations, and local people to join hands to donate and support Ms. Lo. Although the amount is not large, “a piece of food when hungry is worth a package when full”, it will be very necessary for Ms. Lo’s family at this time.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, President of the Commune Women's Union, said: "Mrs. Lo and her husband live a gentle and honest life, but everyone feels sorry and sympathetic for being in this situation. We hope that benefactors will join hands to help Mrs. Lo and her husband have more conditions to treat their illness and overcome difficulties."

Please send all donations to Dong Xuyen Women's Union via account number: 2302215010431, Agribank Ninh Giang district branch, clearly stating "support Mrs. Lo".
