In the post-COVID-19 pandemic context, the Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) 2022 will have the theme "Cinema - Humanity, Adaptation and Development" with many activities to promote this industry.

According to the project to organize the 6th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the event will last for 5 days from November 8 to 12, 2022 in the capital. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi People's Committee will coordinate to direct; the Department of Cinema, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and related units will co-organize.
Taking place every two years, HANIFF 2022 was postponed from 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the context of the new normal, the industry restarts after the pandemic, the theme of this year's film festival is "Cinema - Humanity, Adaptation and Development."
The main events of the 6th HANIFF include film screenings, seminars, exhibitions and the opening and closing ceremonies of the film festival.
The film screening program will include two types: (1) Competition films (for short films and feature films selected from world cinema) and (2) Non-competition films (world cinema panorama program, typical Korean film program to celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing Vietnam-Korea diplomatic relations, contemporary Vietnamese film program).
The series will be screened at the National Cinema Center (87 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh).
The two seminars will have the topics "Spotlight on Korean Cinema" and "Film Production, Distribution and Dissemination Overcoming the COVID-19 Pandemic." The exhibition will take the content and theme "Filming Locations Are Monuments and Cultural Heritages of Hanoi."
There will be three programs broadcast live on VTV from the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace (91 Tran Hung Dao), including the Red Carpet Program (7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on November 8), the Opening Ceremony (8:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on November 8), and the Closing and Award Ceremony (8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on November 12).
The grand prize will be worth $5,000 for the best feature film. The prizes for best short film and best actor and actress will each be worth $3,000.

First held in 2010, HANIFF (formerly known as Vietnam Film Festival - VNIFF) is a major film event in Hanoi, providing important opportunities for domestic cinema to interact with international cinema.
