A collision between two passenger trains occurred on October 29 in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh state, India, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens of others.
On October 29, a passenger train numbered 08504 en route from Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh state, Southeast India to Rayagada district of Odisha state, collided with another passenger train numbered 08532 en route from Visakhapatnam to Palasa (Andhra Pradesh state), killing at least 10 people and injuring 40 others.
The accident occurred in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh state, causing three coaches of train 08504 to derail. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
The day after the incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered immediate relief measures and sent as many ambulances as possible from Visakhapatnam and the nearest districts of Vizianagaram to the spot.
All arrangements at nearby hospitals need to be made to provide good medical care to the injured.
Besides, Chief Minister Reddy also ordered the railways to coordinate with other government agencies, including health, police and other services to provide prompt relief and ensure that the injured receive timely medical care.
