Hai Duong attends forum on linking development of eastern expressway industrial park

Attending the forum were leaders of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen provinces, Hai Phong city and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan represented the leaders of Hai Duong province to attend the forum. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment, the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of the 4 provinces and cities; experts on industrial park development and representatives of a number of units constructing, exploiting and operating technical infrastructure of industrial parks in the eastern expressway sub-region.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Hai Duong province, proposed solutions to promote the strengths of each locality, increase efficiency and competitiveness to link industrial parks, economic zones, and export processing zones in the eastern expressway sub-region.

The model of industrial parks, economic zones, and export processing zones was formed and developed in conjunction with the renovation and opening of Vietnam's economy. Up to now, it has affirmed its role as one of the pillars of industry, an important foundation for realizing the goal of turning our country into a modern industrial country. In Hai Duong, after 20 years of formation and development, the province's industrial parks are a breakthrough direction in economic development investment in infrastructure serving industrial production, especially the province's concentrated industry. Currently, the whole province has 24 planned industrial parks. Of which, 12 industrial parks have invested in infrastructure, put into operation with nearly 350 investment projects.

The presentation emphasized that with its geographical location, convenient transportation, land and human resources, Hai Duong has great potential for industrial development. However, the province's industrial development is still limited and not commensurate with its advantages when it has not attracted large projects and potential investors. Therefore, if the linkage in developing infrastructure for the eastern expressway industrial park is effective, it will promote the four localities to maximize their strengths and create a sustainable industrial symbiosis.

The Hai Duong Industrial Parks Management Board proposed that there must be synchronous solutions on mechanisms and policies to improve the effectiveness of industrial park development linkages in the direction of solidarity, support, and harmony for mutual development. Accordingly, each locality needs to strengthen training and human resource development, especially high-quality human resources in state management agencies, ensuring compliance with the development orientation of industrial parks, economic zones, and export processing zones of each place. At the same time, focus on investing in developing and managing infrastructure outside industrial parks, economic zones, and export processing zones with approved planning, ensuring infrastructure connectivity. Each province and city needs to share and connect in investment promotion so that industrial parks have the opportunity to contact and attract investment.

At the forum, experts and representatives of 4 provinces and cities also discussed issues related to the development and linkage of the eastern expressway industrial park. These include experiences in connecting with industrial parks abroad, orientations for planning the development of ecological industrial infrastructure to attract foreign direct investment, solutions to maximize the productivity of the supply chain linking industrial development, operating mechanisms, coordination in labor use, promoting the flow of goods in industrial parks, etc.
