On the morning of November 10, Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. held a conference to unify the operation plan for the winter-spring flood season 2023-2024.
Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Irrigation (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development); Irrigation Sub-Departments of Hai Duong and Hung Yen; Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Companies of Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Nam Duong (Bac Ninh) and Gia Lam Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise (Hanoi).
The delegates basically agreed on the plan to operate the winter-spring flood season of 2023-2024 of Bac Hung Hai Company. The leaders of the Department of Irrigation requested Bac Hung Hai Company to have a specific water regulation plan for each locality, prepare a plan to handle incidents, and avoid being passive. In which, they should delimit areas at risk of water shortage, or polluted water that cannot be irrigated, and proactively install field pumping stations in these areas.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong requested that units pay attention to the issue of handling violations of irrigation works and pollution of Bac Hung Hai water sources. In particular, agencies and units need to coordinate closely in monitoring the salinity of water in the Bac Hung Hai system and foreign river water to regulate water appropriately for production.
The operation plan of the Bac Hung Hai system for the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop is divided into 4 phases. The winter crop phase from October 29 to December 24, 2023 focuses on dredging and repairing works, watering spring rice seedlings, water supply for winter crops, waterway traffic and the environment. The buffer water intake phase, storing maximum water into the system after December 25, 2023. The flooding phase focuses on taking water in 2 phases, totaling 12 days, expected phase 1 from January 22 to January 29, 2024, phase 2 from February 18 to February 21, 2024. The irrigation phase follows the principle of storing water during the high water and high tide periods to irrigate during the low water and low tide periods.
It is expected that from April 1, 2024, the Xuan Quan field pumping station will be put into operation. Bac Hung Hai Company will operate according to the process to ensure adequate irrigation water supply and minimize water pollution in the system.
