On June 21, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hai Duong province sent a document to agencies, units and localities to proactively respond to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
According to the forecast, in the coming days, the Northern region (including Hai Duong province) will have showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
To proactively respond and minimize damage, the Hai Duong Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requests agencies, units and localities to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts of natural disasters and weather, promptly inform authorities at all levels and people, and implement preventive measures. Prepare on-site forces to promptly support people in responding and overcoming consequences (if any). Organize inspections and reviews of key areas of natural disaster prevention, residential areas along rivers and streams, low-lying areas, streets at high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides to deploy response plans according to the "4 on-site" motto to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Hai Duong Newspaper, Hai Duong Radio and Television Station and press agencies in the province increase the time to propagate weather developments, disseminate instructions to people on how to recognize and respond to heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind to minimize damage. The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors weather developments and natural disasters and promptly reports to provincial leaders, leaders of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, and leaders of People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns to be proactive in commanding, directing, responding to, and overcoming consequences caused by natural disasters. Organize regular and serious duty shifts and regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue according to regulations.
