The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives is expected to vote on December 13 to formalize the Democratic impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, a Republican leadership aide said.

Earlier, Republican Congressman Kelly Armstrong on December 7 introduced a 14-page resolution allowing the entire House of Representatives to vote on agreeing to conduct an investigation into Mr. Biden.

House Republicans accuse President Biden and his family of profiting from policy decisions Biden participated in as Vice President under President Barack Obama (2009-2017).

They also accused the Justice Department of improperly interfering in the investigation of businessman Hunter Biden, President Biden's son.

Republican Congressman Byron Donalds, a member of one of three committees investigating Mr. Biden, told Fox News on December 10 that he hopes the investigation will be concluded within the next two months and the House will draft articles of impeachment in the spring.

So far, House Republicans have not provided evidence linking Biden's actions as vice president to his son's business activities, and it is unlikely that the Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority, would vote to convict the president if the House passes articles of impeachment.

According to plan, US congressmen will leave Washington DC on December 14 for a year-end holiday that will last more than 3 weeks.
