Hanoi ranked 96th in the top 100 best cities in the world in 2024, behind other Asian cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, and Beijing.

The World's Best Cities ranking announced the 100 best cities in the world in 2024 in the first quarter of this year. The capital Hanoi ranked 96th, the only representative in Vietnam mentioned.

Experts say that Hanoi is not as large or bustling as Ho Chi Minh City, but it has many attractions, vibrant markets for shopping, and a vibrant nightlife.

Vietnam is highly rated in the "Livability" category (61st) and the economy has demonstrated its resilience in the face of global economic challenges. Vietnam's economic growth is expected to reach 4.7% in the second half of the year.

Hanoi’s hotel market is expected to boom with 60 new projects with more than 11,000 rooms, of which more than 60% will be five-star hotels, turning the city into a place ready to welcome the world.

There are 20 Asian cities in the top 100. Japan and China are the most mentioned countries with 4 destinations: Tokyo (3rd), Osaka (45th), Nagoya (94th), Saporro (98th) and Beijing (18th), Taiwan (42nd), Hong Kong (46th), Shanghai (62nd). South Korea has two cities: Seoul (10th) and Busan (67th). Some remaining Asian cities are in the UAE, Israel, Oman, Kuwait, Thailand.

World's Best Cities is an annual ranking since 2015 by the global real estate and travel consultancy Resonance. The study evaluates more than 270 major cities with a population of more than 1 million. The ranking criteria are based on three major categories: livability, prosperity of the city, and attractiveness in attracting visitors and economic development. These three criteria are aggregated from 24 other sub-categories.

World's Best Cities is considered by Bloomberg media as "the world's most comprehensive city ranking" thanks to the prestige of the surveyed data.
