In recent days, social networks and some mass media have posted information saying that Hanoi will set off fireworks at 5 locations during the 2024 New Year. Specifically, the locations where fireworks will be announced are Hanoi Post Office (Hoan Kiem District), Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung District), Nguyen Hoang Ton Flower Garden (Tay Ho District), My Dinh National Stadium (Nam Tu Liem District) and Son Tay Citadel (Son Tay Town).

According to the plan, on New Year's Eve, the city will organize countdown points (countdown festivals to welcome the new year) in the area around Hoan Kiem Lake. Hoan Kiem Lake walking street will also be open during all 4 days of the New Year holiday (from the evening of December 29, 2023 to the end of January 1, 2024) to serve people's entertainment.
