Nearly 53,000 cases of dengue fever nationwide

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, during the week from August 6 to 13, the country recorded 3,095 cases of dengue fever, a slight increase compared to the previous week.

Cumulatively from the beginning of the year until now, the whole country has recorded 52,957 cases of dengue fever, including 6 deaths. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of cases decreased by 15%, the number of deaths decreased by 10 cases.

To prevent dengue fever, in the telegram on strengthening disease prevention work in the summer of 2024, the Ministry of Health sent to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities, stating that information from the infectious disease surveillance system shows that currently, some epidemics circulating in the country such as dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and measles are on the rise, while sporadic cases of some infectious diseases that can be prevented by vaccines have also been recorded.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health recommends that localities promote health education and communication, organize campaigns to promote personal hygiene and hygiene in living areas, and disseminate measures to prevent and combat summer epidemics such as ensuring food safety and hygiene, eating cooked food, drinking boiled water; launching environmental sanitation campaigns, washing hands with soap, etc.
