Cam Che-Lien Mac-Thanh Xuan inter-commune road is waiting to be expanded

The narrowest county road

The Cam Che-Lien Mac-Thanh Xuan route, over 9 km long, is the narrowest inter-commune road in Thanh Ha district at present. The roadway is only about 4 m wide, with some sections only 3.5 m wide. If two cars are going in opposite directions, they have to avoid each other very carefully and move to the side of the road to pass.

Mr. Nguyen Van Xuyen in Thien Trang village, Thanh Xuan commune said that many sections have "potholes", making it difficult to travel, some sections have subsidence, and in the rainy season, water accumulates into large puddles. Therefore, not only him but also people living along the road are hoping that the "main artery" of the commune will soon be widened. "When I built my house, I built the gate about 4 meters wide, but if the road is widened, we need to donate more land, my family is ready," said Mr. Xuyen.

Lien Mac and Thanh Xuan communes grow guava and raise aquatic products on a large scale. The demand for transporting agricultural products is higher than in other communes, but transportation is not convenient. Heavy-duty vehicles must stop in other communes to purchase, and people have to spend time transporting goods to sell. Mr. Luong Van Chung in Mac Thu 2 village, Lien Mac commune said that during the guava harvest season, his family had to use a motorbike with many racks to bring guava to the weighing point in Cam Che commune because the road was narrow, the owner of the weighing point was afraid to drive the vehicle all the way to the purchasing place, and there was no place for the vehicle to stop for a long time.

The Cam Che-Lien Mac-Thanh Xuan inter-commune road is currently managed by Thanh Ha district. Due to the road's deterioration, the district's Road Department has renovated it many times by pouring sand and gravel on both sides of the road. At meetings with voters and dialogues with leaders of Party committees and authorities, people of the communes have requested the district to soon pay attention to investing in expanding the road, ensuring the needs of travel, trade and production.

Difficulty in funding

In the 2020-2025 term, Thanh Ha district will implement 5 key projects, including the renovation of Cam Che - Lien Mac - Thanh Xuan road. As an agricultural district with a variety of vegetable and fruit products, Thanh Ha district attaches importance to expanding traffic routes to connect production and trade areas, creating favorable conditions for people to produce and consume agricultural products. During the term, the district has completed the Hong Lac-Tan Viet-Cam Che inter-commune road with an investment cost of more than 9 billion VND, and is continuing to complete the road from Nua market, Tan An commune to An Phuong commune. The Cam Che-Lien Mac-Thanh Xuan road has not yet had any "movement". Mr. Bui Van To, Chairman of Thanh Xuan Commune People's Committee, said that this road is 4.5 km long, passing through Thanh Xuan commune, the longest of the 3 communes. The district is also very interested but still has difficulties in funding.

In 2021-2022, Thanh Ha is looking forward to the money from land auctions in some new residential areas. But this is difficult, many places have organized auctions many times but still failed due to few participants. Some private enterprises investing in building residential areas run out of capital halfway, so progress is slow. Even the site clearance work for many projects is still unfinished.

Thanh Ha District is still looking for ways to “unblock” funding sources. The District People’s Committee has requested specialized departments to prepare documents, estimate the cost of road renovation, report to the District People’s Council for approval and proceed with steps to approve the investment policy, prioritizing the renovation of this road as soon as funding is available.

If the site clearance work in residential area and traffic projects is done well, the district budget will collect about 5,000 billion VND, of which Thanh Ha district will retain about 1,000 billion VND for construction, economic development, social security, especially road expansion, connecting production areas together.
