The nearly 3,200 km long Ho Chi Minh Road will be basically connected by 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chu Market - Trung Son Intersection, is being implemented as a complete piece to basically connect the entire route by 2025.

Leaders of the Ministry of Transport and leaders of the People's Committees of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces pressed the button to start construction of the Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chu Market - Trung Son Intersection.

The Ministry of Transport coordinated with the People's Committees of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces to organize a ceremony to launch the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chu Market - Trung Son Intersection, in Dinh Hoa district this morning, June 7.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam said that the Ho Chi Minh Road Project starts at Pac Bo (Cao Bang) and ends at Dat Mui (Ca Mau) with a length of 3,183km (the main route is 2,499km long, the western branch is 684km long). To date, 2,488/2,744km and about 258km of the branch route have been completed, with the remaining 256km under construction, of which the Cho Chu Nga Ba-Trung Son section is the last piece to be invested in and built to connect the entire Ho Chi Minh Road by 2025.

“When completed, the Cho Chu-Trung Son Intersection route will create an inter-regional road traffic system, reducing traffic on roads in the region, promoting socio-economic development, tourism, strengthening national defense and security in Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces in particular and the Northern Midlands and Mountains region in general, thereby effectively exploiting major national transport infrastructure projects,” Deputy Minister Lam emphasized.

In order for the project to be implemented on schedule and with quality, the Ministry of Transport has requested the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board (investor), consulting units, and contractors with the highest responsibility, to promote the spirit of "overcoming the sun and overcoming the rain", promptly develop a specific plan, appropriate construction organization plan, mobilize sufficient human resources, machinery, and equipment to focus on implementing the construction to ensure quality, progress, and safety; strictly comply with legal regulations, technical instructions, etc., and complete the project on time as per the signed contract.

The Ministry of Transport requests the People's Committees of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces to continue to pay attention to directing the early completion of all site clearance work, especially resettlement areas and relocation of technical infrastructure works; arrange dumping sites, prioritize the provision of sufficient raw materials for the project; direct local authorities to coordinate and create favorable conditions for the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board and construction units throughout the construction process; strengthen inspection work, ensure security, order and traffic safety in the project implementation area.

According to Mr. Dang Xuan Truong, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, this project aims to complete Ho Chi Minh road according to the plan, contributing to improving transportation capacity, minimizing traffic accidents to meet the transportation needs of the northern provinces to the key economic region of the North, connecting the relic sites of Thai Nguyen province with other provinces and cities.

In order for the project to be implemented on schedule and ensure technical and aesthetic standards, Mr. Truong affirmed that Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces are committed to coordinating with the Ministry of Transport and the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board to soon complete the site clearance and resettlement work, and to promote high consensus among the people so that the construction project can be completed on schedule.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai, Chairman of the Board of Members of Son Hai Group (representing the project's consortium of contractors) committed and determined to complete the project, ensuring construction quality and safety according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Transport by the end of 2025.

To achieve this goal, Son Hai Group hopes that local authorities and the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board will soon complete the site so that the contractor can organize construction.

According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, the Ho Chi Minh Road construction project from Cho Chu to Trung Son Intersection has a total length of about 28.98km. The starting point is at Cho Chu (the end point of Cho Moi-Cho Chu section), Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province; the end point is at Trung Son Intersection (intersection with National Highway 2C), Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province.

The project is built according to the technical standards of grade 3 mountainous roads with a design speed of 60km/h and a scale of 2 lanes. The project has a total investment of about 1,665 billion VND, using the State budget and is expected to be completed in 2025.
