Ngo Thi Nhu Hue, 39 years old, Head of Sales Department of Nam Phuong Chemical Company, was accused of creating fake invoices and smuggling more than 2.5 tons of cyanide into the market.
On September 18, Hue and Nguyen Duc Thanh Huy, 35 years old, were arrested by Binh Thanh District Police for their behavior.Illegal trade in toxic substancesprescribed in Article 311 of the Penal Code.
Previously, the police received a report from a resident about a package containing a suspicious white powder that was mistakenly delivered to their home. The results of the examination showed that it was 300 grams of cyanide. The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department immediately directed the Binh Thanh District Police to coordinate with many units to investigate.
Following the traces, the police arrested Huy - the seller of poison; confiscated another 1 kg of cyanide waiting to be sold on the market.
The investigation agency determined that Huy used Facebook.Nam Phuong ChemicalsandElectroplating chemicalsto advertise, exchange, and trade cyanide. When a customer needs it, this person packages it and delivers it to them through a delivery-collection service.
Huy confessed that since March he has sold more than 100 kg of cyanide to many people in many provinces and cities across the country. The suspect admitted that he "did not care whether the buyer had a business license or was qualified to use this toxic chemical."
Expanding the investigation into the source of this poison, the police arrested Hue, Head of the Sales Department of Nam Phuong Chemical Company Limited in District 12; and seized an additional 150 kg of cyanide.
She was accused of taking advantage of her job position and the business owner's lax management to create fake contracts for the company's purchase of cyanide with partners, and then selling it to others to profit from the price difference.
Police determined that from 2019 to now, Hue has sold more than 2.5 tons of cyanide to 11 customers, earning nearly 400 million VND. Of these, Huy alone bought the poison to resell for illegal profit, while the other cases were used for mining and metal processing.
The case is under further investigation.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, recently there have been many cases where criminals used cyanide to poison victims to rob them, or simply to resolve conflicts in daily life. These brutal cases show that there are many loopholes in the management and sale of cyanide; it is easy to exchange and sell on social networking sites.
