The Hai Duong Department of Transport has just announced the suspension of Giai ferry operations on provincial road 390E across Lai Vu river until further notice.
On September 10, the Hai Duong Department of Transport sent a document to relevant localities and units requesting the suspension of Giai ferry operations on provincial road 390E across Lai Vu river (Rang river) in Thanh Lang commune (Thanh Ha) and Kim Dinh commune (Kim Thanh) when the weather conditions are unfavorable, directly affecting ferry safety until further notice.
The Department of Transport requests Giai Ferry Investment and Operation Company Limited to organize the anchoring of vehicles securely, manage and preserve equipment and vehicles to ensure safety according to regulations. Organize on-duty command at the wharf; be ready to mobilize human resources and ferry vehicles to participate in search and rescue activities when requested by local authorities and competent authorities. Report regularly and promptly when unexpected situations occur.
The People's Committees of Thanh Ha and Kim Thanh districts direct specialized departments and People's Committees of communes and towns to notify people in the area and to use other routes. Timely inform the Department of Transport of natural disasters and flooding situations in the area for coordination in handling.
Giai ferry is the only ferry in the province managed by the provincial level under a BOT contract. Other ferries and wharves are managed by the district level.
Currently all ferry terminals and ferries in the province have stopped operating.
Previously, on September 5, the Department of Transport issued a document requesting that all ferry terminals not be allowed to operate when storm No. 3 makes landfall on rivers managed by the Central Government, and that vehicles be anchored at safe locations.
