Ho Chi Minh City is expected to have more than 80 commune-level administrative units.

According to the national arrangement ratio, Ho Chi Minh City will have more than 80 administrative units at commune and ward level instead of 273 as at present, according to Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc.

Nationwide, it is expected to reduce from more than 10,500 to 2,500 commune-level administrative units.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said the number of commune-level administrative units nationwide is expected to decrease from more than 10,500 to 2,500 after the merger.
The National Assembly Standing Committee will consider the project to rearrange commune-level administrative units.

The National Assembly is scheduled to open its session on May 5 to amend the Constitution and related laws. During this time, the National Assembly Standing Committee will consider 63 proposals on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units.
