Uzbekistan U23 team is likely to attend the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals held in Qatar without many important players in the squad.
U23 Uzbekistan, the team considered the biggest challenge for U23 Vietnam in Group D, has just announced the list of 23 players participating in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals.
According to Tribuna, many important players of U23 Uzbekistan who are playing abroad cannot participate in the tournament because the club does not release them.
The regrettable absentees include Ibrokhimkhalil Yuldoshev (Kairat, Kazakhstan), Abdukodir Khusanov (Lens, France), Khojimat Erkinov (Al Wahda, UAE) and Abbosbek Fayzullaev (CSKA Moscow).
However, Tribuna also said that, according to regulations, teams can change the final list before the tournament officially begins.
“Negotiations with the players' home clubs are currently underway and the final list will be announced on the official UFA pages,” the official UFA website said.
Previously, many sources revealed that the Football Federation of this country is currently negotiating with Lens and CSKA about creating conditions for Abdukodir Khusanov and Abbosbek Fayzullae to participate in the U23 Asian tournament as members of the Olympic team.
Abbosbek Fayzullaev is considered a "child prodigy" of Uzbekistan football. Although only 21 years old, Fayzullaev has played 13 times for the national team and contributed 4 goals.
Fayzullaev is also an important factor for CSKA Moscow. The Uzbek midfielder has played 16/22 rounds of the 2023-2024 season and has 3 goals and 4 assists.
If Abbosbek Fayzullaev cannot participate, it will be a big loss for U23 Uzbekistan at the upcoming U23 Asian Cup in Qatar.
At the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals, Uzbekistan U23 is in Group D with teams including Vietnam U23, Malaysia U23 and Kuwait U23.
According to the schedule, the U23 Uzbekistan team will begin their journey in Qatar with a match against U23 Malaysia at 8:00 p.m. on April 17 at Khalifa International Stadium.
Next, coach Timur Kapadze's team will face U23 Kuwait (10:30 p.m., April 20) at Al Janoub Stadium.
The U23 Uzbekistan team will close the group stage with a match against U23 Vietnam (10:30 p.m., April 23) at Khalifa International Stadium.
The 2024 AFC U23 Championship Finals will take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024 in Qatar, promising to be very tense as this is also the tournament to determine Asian representatives to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The three teams that finish first, second and third in the tournament will qualify directly for France. The fourth-placed team will face a CAF representative in a play-off for a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
