Tao Quan 2024 brings together many new faces, revealing discussions about the insurance market

At 8:00 p.m. tonight, the 30th of Tet (February 9), the program Meeting at the end of the year (Tao Quan 2024) will officially air on Vietnam Television, with the characteristic of discussing outstanding issues of the year, through a humorous and thoughtful lens.

According to the information revealed, this year the Apples also discussed the issue of loosening management of insurance companies. In response to this development, many insurance companies simultaneously reminded and banned agents from making negative statements.

Avoid creating unwanted media crises

"The Year-End Meeting program is designed from a humorous perspective, however, the fact that the life insurance market continues to be a topic of discussion will more or less cause disadvantages for business operations for enterprises," Manulife sent a notice to its insurance agents.

Accordingly, the enterprise requires agents to comply with the "Code of conduct on social networks and the press", with the following 3 basic contents:

First, it is necessary to clearly understand the message and objectives of Tao Quan. Issues that can be discussed in the program include: 100-year contract terms, long contracts and small letters that make it difficult for customers to read and only trust consultants, confusing savings deposits with insurance contracts...

Next, the agent must protect the company's reputation by absolutely not speaking out by posting, interacting, replying to comments, criticizing Tao Quan 2024 or individuals and organizations in any form.

Do not attack actors or influencers on social media, to "avoid creating an unwanted media crisis".

The company believes that the above action will "contribute to maintaining a positive media environment and building a positive image for the company during this year's Tet holiday."

Another large enterprise, Prudential, also sent a "Note on the code of conduct on social networks and with the press" for the sales team to not attack or criticize the Tao Quan program and related individuals, and not to post negative information about the industry.

According to research, the Vietnam Insurance Association previously sent information about the Tao Quan 2024 program to member life insurance companies.

Earlier this year, customer - actress Ngoc Lan was collectively attacked by many insurance agents, with harsh words, after she accused of being given ambiguous advice. Closing the case, the general director of MVI Life apologized to actress Ngoc Lan on behalf of the company, for not providing the perfect service as expected.

Insurance agents feel powerless

According to records, regarding the Tao Quan 2024 program, many businesses also requested that insurance agents not debate or make negative comments about the industry on social networks, and not give interviews to any press agencies.

When requested for an interview, must contact directly or forward information immediately to the company for processing.

In another development, many insurance agents previously reported being asked not to share official articles, not to post information reflecting negative content related to the insurance industry, not to help customers who are complaining about insurance sales through banks, compensation complaints, etc.

Closely monitoring the insurance market situation and understanding the concerns of many agents and people, Mr. Tran Nguyen Dan (Vietnam Lawyers Association) said that agents have the right to support media agencies in performing their role of reflecting the aspirations of the masses, in the face of concerns about insurance business activities.

This is consistent with the provisions on freedom of speech, freedom of the press and access to information clearly stated in Article 25 of the Constitution.

"Every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and has the responsibility to support the media to reflect negativity, contributing to the development of a healthy and civilized society," Mr. Dan commented.

In 2023, premium revenue of the entire life and non-life insurance market is estimated to reach more than VND 227,100 billion, down 8.3% over the previous year.

Insurance companies paid nearly VND86,380 billion in insurance benefits to customers, an increase of more than 31.1% over the same period last year. Developing a healthy insurance market will contribute to ensuring social security.
