Flocking to take photos with the "lonely" royal poinciana tree

"It's rare to find such a beautiful scene in the city," An said. "I feel it was worth the more than an hour motorbike ride to get here."

At the same time as An, Ms. Thanh Ha, 40 years old, also came to the Royal Poinciana tree with her son. Her friends introduced her to this strange place so she went there. On weekends, she and her son often ride bicycles together so she took the opportunity to stop by.

She felt the fresh air of the fields, completely different from the dusty and noisy atmosphere of the city. At the same time, the royal poinciana flowers were in their most beautiful bloom, so she went early, afraid that the flowers would wither in a few days.

For about a month now, the only royal poinciana tree in the middle of the water spinach field on the Vam Thuat Canal in Thanh Xuan Ward, District 12, has been blooming, attracting many people to come and take pictures. Because there is only one tree, locals call it the "lonely" royal poinciana tree.

Ms. Huong, 48 years old, is the owner of the royal poinciana tree. She came to Thanh Xuan ward, district 12 to rent land to grow vegetables and planted royal poinciana trees for shade for 8 years.

"This royal poinciana tree has been in bloom for four years, but I don't understand why so many people have come to take pictures recently," said Ms. Huong. The woman is willing to welcome photographers, as long as they keep it clean and don't break the branches or pick the flowers.

Every day, the royal poinciana tree has dozens of visitors coming to take pictures, most crowded in the early morning and afternoon. Early May is the time when the royal poinciana tree blooms the most, people often wear ao dai, conical hats, and carry school bags to take check-in photos to reminisce about their school days.

Among them was Ms. Le Nhan, 40 years old, who went with her husband and friends. She said she felt a bit regretful because the royal poinciana had faded a bit, but her family still liked it because the scenery was as beautiful as a painting. "The royal poinciana tree stands out in the middle of the green fields, in the distance there is a thatched roof, a canal with clear water, and the air is fresh," Ms. Nhan said.

The woman in Lai Thieu Ward, Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province said she was satisfied with the 15-minute queue to take her turn at the photo booth. However, she also noted that the winding road around the canal bank is only suitable for motorbikes or bicycles.
