Proposal to reclaim land of Vinamit Joint Stock Company

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hai Duong has just proposed that the provincial People's Committee not extend the land use term for Vinamit Joint Stock Company, and at the same time proposed to reclaim more than 34.7 hectares of project land of this company.

*After 15 years of being leased land by the province, Vinamit Joint Stock Company has not yet implemented the project. Currently, most of the land area is still left vacant.*

After inspecting and reviewing the compliance with land laws for a number of slow-progressing projects in the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hai Duong assessed that the above project did not meet the conditions for a 24-month extension as prescribed. The Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to reclaim more than 34.7 hectares of project land of the company in Ai Quoc and Nam Dong wards (Hai Duong city) as prescribed.

In 2008, Vinamit Joint Stock Company was leased more than 34.7 hectares of land in Ai Quoc and Nam Dong wards (Hai Duong City) by the People's Committee of Hai Duong province to implement a project for a processing factory, a warehouse for preserving vegetables and fruits, and a model for introducing the production process of agricultural products. However, the company did not implement the project for many years and the province extended the implementation period many times.

To date, this company has been more than 30 months behind schedule in land use since the last adjustment of the project implementation schedule.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in recent years, the company has repeatedly sent documents to the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province and relevant agencies requesting support, establishing and approving detailed construction planning at a scale of 1/500 and implementing the project to build a new commercial, service and residential area in Ai Quoc ward (Hai Duong city).
