Early puberty causes children to lose 10-12 cm in height.

According to statistics from Hai Duong Children's Hospital, from the beginning of the year to the end of September, there were 196 cases of early puberty. There were 111 children diagnosed with early puberty compared to normal (before 8 years old in girls and 9 years old in boys), while the whole year of 2023 was 148 children.

Precocious puberty occurs more often in girls, reducing their height by 10-12 cm compared to their potential and having a significant impact on their psychology. This is an alarming condition in young children.

According to pediatric endocrinologists, the cause of early puberty in children has not yet been specifically determined. However, nutrition is also one of the factors that affect puberty. Children with obesity often reach puberty earlier than children of the same age. Girls with early puberty often have signs such as breast development, psychological changes... while boys have broken voices, testicle and penis development, mustaches, acne...

Precocious puberty cases are treated with injections to delay puberty once a month until the child is 10 years old. Currently, Hai Duong Children's Hospital is one of the few hospitals treating precocious puberty at the provincial level.
