The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong suggested that because the water discharge time is shorter than every year, localities and units must store maximum water in the main canal to prevent water shortage.
Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development inspect the water supply situation at Cau Ghe pumping station.
On February 2, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Hai Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. inspected the dumping work in Cam Giang district.
After checking the operation of the flood discharge service at Cau Ghe and Thach Loi pumping stations and the actual flood discharge situation in Thach Loi commune, comrade Bui Van Thang, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, requested Cam Giang district, the irrigation works operator and localities to take advantage of the second water discharge time (from February 1 to 8) to speed up the flood discharge progress, striving to basically complete the flood discharge during the second water intake period. The flood discharge plan must be consistent with the crop calendar and the structure of each locality's sowing varieties, and at the same time take advantage of the time when the water level is high to actively store water in the system. The irrigation works management unit regularly inspects, maintains and repairs the machinery and equipment system, ensuring good operation for production, while strengthening inspection and instructing people to reinforce the banks of the area and the fields, avoiding water loss in areas with sufficient water supply. Management agencies coordinate with local authorities to resolutely handle violations of irrigation works, especially newly arising violations, and absolutely not let violations affect water intake and discharge.
The Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested that localities and units exploiting irrigation works strive to basically complete the dumping during the second water discharge period.
By February 2, Cam Giang district had flooded more than 22 hectares, reaching 55% of the plan. The district's flooding progress was average compared to other localities in the province, and is expected to complete flooding by February 15. The whole province has flooded about 41,500 hectares, reaching 79% of the cultivated area. Localities that have carried out flooding quickly are Chi Linh city (96.4%), Tu Ky district (96.5%), Thanh Ha (95.5%), Ninh Giang (95%)... Kinh Mon town has flooded slowly, reaching only 26.6% due to late onion and garlic harvest.
This year, the flood discharge was relatively favorable because Hai Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited proactively brought water according to the planting plan of each locality. The flood water source was not polluted like previous years, but the reverse water source was interrupted at times due to salinity. Because the water discharge time was shorter than every year, localities and units had to store maximum water in the main canal to prevent water shortages.
