The torment of a journalist

Until now, I still feel guilty because I have not been able to help the character in my article find his relatives.

Reportage "33 years of searching for a child" published in Hai Duong Newspaper

In 2022, I wrote a report "33 years of searching for a child" about the regret of Mr. Vu Van Hoc (in Quang Cu village, Cam Doai commune, Cam Giang) for losing his child.

In 1989, Mr. Hoc's son, Vu Van Toi (he was 12 years old at the time), and his friends went to glean rice in the field, were chased by security guards and ran away missing. Suspecting that his son had been murdered, Mr. Hoc then dug up the entire field, posted a notice to find the lost child and searched everywhere but could not find him. Mr. Hoc's family was the only poor household in Cam Doai commune, with 6 children, and Mr. Toi was the wisest. In the conversation with us at that time, this 75-year-old man was always crying and tormented. That haunted me.

After the newspaper was published, there were thousands of shares on personal accounts and groups on social networks. I also sent information to VTV's program "As if there had never been a separation" in the hope of finding Mr. Hoc's son, but so far there has been no information.

That is a torment for a journalist, because I promised myself, to the best of my ability, I would find Mr. Toi, if he was still alive.
