At around 10:20 a.m. on September 14, the incident of a fish raft getting stuck on the Hop Thanh bridge pillar (Thanh Ha, Hai Duong) on the Gua river was safely handled, after 2 days of occurrence.
At around 10:20 a.m. on September 14, the authorities handled and pushed two fish rafts safely out of the area at the foot of Hop Thanh bridge.
Previously, at around 9am on September 12, the Thanh Ha District Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command discovered a cage of carp stuck to the pillars of Hop Thanh 1 Bridge in the middle of the Gua River. At around 11:30am, another cage of carp from Hai Duong City headed towards the Gua River and got stuck at the same location as the first cage.
After the collision, the fish rafts were broken and dragged to the Hop Thanh 2 bridge pier under construction. The District Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue pushed away some cages stuck to the Hop Thanh 2 bridge pier, while the other two rafts were stuck and could not be pushed away immediately.
Realizing that the situation was dangerous to the old Hop Thanh bridge pier, potentially causing insecurity for the Hop Thanh 2 bridge project, Thanh Ha district reported to the Department of Transport and the Provincial Police for support. Immediately, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Provincial Police) mobilized 15 soldiers and officers to coordinate with the Department of Transport, Thanh Ha district, and Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18 (Licogi 18 Company is the contractor for the Hop Thanh 2 bridge) to urgently handle the incident. The company mobilized all cranes, machinery, and equipment to cut and weld the fish cage raft frame into a block that is convenient for pushing the raft.
