A 1-0 win at Vitality against Bournemouth helped Man United move very close to a place in the Top 4. With 3 points more than their opponents, Man United only need 1 point in the last 2 matches to have a ticket to the Champions League next season without having to care about Liverpool's results.

In the last two matches, MU will host Chelsea and Fulham, two teams that have run out of specific goals. With home advantage, coach ten Hag and his team can definitely win at least 1 point. However, Chelsea and Fulham are both tough opponents. Even though they don't have much motivation to compete this season, the two clubs are still ready to make MU regret at Old Trafford.

In the early morning of May 26, MU will host Chelsea at home. They are in very impressive form at Old Trafford. In the last 20 matches hosting opponents, the Red Devils of Manchester have won 17 and drawn 3. In the Premier League alone, coach Erik ten Hag's team has not conceded a goal at home in the last 6 rounds. The last time they did this was in a series of 6 matches in May - October 2017.

United's resurgence at home has been key to their improved form under ten Hag this season, making up for their poor away form. United will be looking to capitalise on that advantage to secure a win over Chelsea, which would guarantee them a place in next season's Champions League.

Chelsea are unlikely to cause a surprise at Old Trafford. Coach Frank Lampard's team has run out of goals to strive for after successfully staying in the league. Along with that, they are in very poor form, having won only 1 of their last 12 matches in all competitions. Away from home, Chelsea have also been very poor, having lost 12, drawn 3, and won only 2 of their last 17 matches.

Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino has rekindled Liverpool's Champions League hopes. However, Jurgen Klopp's team no longer has the right to decide their own fate. The Reds must win the remaining match and hope that MU will lose the last two matches. In round 38, Liverpool will face relegated club Southampton. In terms of strength, Liverpool are expected to win, but with their current form and mentality, many people believe that Klopp's team can "pocket" 3 points.

Jurgen Klopp knows that his Liverpool team no longer has the right to decide. They need to win the remaining match, while waiting for MU to stumble in the last 2 matches. The hope that Liverpool will surpass the Red Devils in the race for the Premier League Top 4 is now only theoretical.

It would be a huge blow for Erik ten Hag if United fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Dutchman has said that qualifying for the Champions League is “very important” and has insisted that United must achieve this goal. In a promising first season, missing out on the Champions League would be a disappointment for ten Hag.

For Liverpool, missing out on the Champions League would leave them with a £50m loss in lost commercial revenue from Europe's premier competition. That would therefore impact their transfer plans.

Perhaps Liverpool's most achievable goal is to qualify for the Europa League next season. With 66 points, they seem to have secured their first ticket to the Europa League. The only way Klopp and his team can make a positive impact from participating in this arena is to win the championship, but that is a long and arduous road.
