Green dominates the VN-Index chart today thanks to the positive performance of many pillar stocks, the stock index accumulated more than 2 points before the holiday.
The HoSE index moved above the reference all day. After increasing by nearly 5 points at around 9:30, the market fluctuated and dropped. There were no stocks or groups leading the cash flow, causing the general index to hover 2-3 points above the reference.
In the afternoon, buying power appeared more densely, helping stocks stay relatively stable around 1,284-1,286 points. A slight shake at the end of the session caused the VN-Index to close at 1,283.9 points, up 2.4 points compared to yesterday.
The positive point is that the market has escaped the "green skin, red heart" situation that lasted for three consecutive sessions before. However, the number of stocks increasing and decreasing was not too different, 202 stocks and 180 stocks respectively.
Pillar stocks in each sector became the main driving force for the VN-Index. The biggest contributors were TCB, FPT, HVN, VCB and MWG. Meanwhile, BID was the stock that had a negative impact. Demand spread across many sectors, notably tourism and entertainment, media, retail and chemicals.
The last trading day before the holiday makes investors likely to limit their trading. Market liquidity in Ho Chi Minh City decreased by more than 500 billion to about 13,500 billion VND. The bright spot is that foreign investors stopped selling when they returned to net buying about 62 billion VND, with FPT being the focus.
Thus, this week, except for the first session of the week, stocks have increased in 4 consecutive sessions. However, overall, VN-Index still decreased by 1.45 points when there were three insignificant increases in the middle of the week. Liquidity remained at an average level, supply and demand were balanced throughout the sessions.
Vietcombank Securities (VCBS) assessed that the market this week maintained a sideways accumulation trend with a narrow and stable range. The analysis team recommends that investors maintain the current portfolio proportion, and consider increasing stocks in the industry groups that are moving along with the market and attracting stable demand. In addition, investors need to proactively monitor closely to have effective and appropriate investment strategies.
