On October 2, according to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), at the 2023 Annual Congress of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, President of VFF, received high trust from the Congress, as the representative of AFF to participate in the Standing Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), term 2023 - 2027.
Thus, this is the fourth consecutive time Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan has participated in the AFC Standing Committee. The first time Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan was elected to this position was at the AFC Congress, term 2011 - 2015. During his activities from his first term participating in the AFC Standing Committee until now, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan has always received high appreciation from the AFC and AFC member organizations through his contributions on breakthrough solutions for the development of Asian football.
As Head of the AFC Competitions Committee, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is often trusted to be the Head of the Organizing Committee at major Asian tournaments, including the Asian Cup. Most recently, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan assumed the role of Head of the AFC delegation in charge of the men's and women's football events at the 19th ASIAD. In the AFF organizational structure, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is currently a member of the AFF Council and Head of the AFF Competitions Committee.
As part of the program, the 2023 AFF Annual Congress elected an additional position of AFF Vice President according to the provisions of the Charter. Mr. Mariano V. Araneta Jr., President of the Philippine Football Federation, was elected Vice President of AFF. Together with the three current AFF Vice Presidents, Mr. Pengiran Haji Matusin Bin Pengiran HajiMatasan (Malaysia), Mr. Francisco Martins Da Costa Pereira Jeronimo (Timor-Leste) and Ms. Maaike Ira Puspita (Indonesia), the senior leadership of AFF has been completed, aiming towards the great goals of Southeast Asian football in the coming time.
Previously, on October 1, the 2023 ASEAN Football Federation Annual Congress took place in Ho Chi Minh City with expectations for a new development step for Southeast Asian football.
