North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called for building a strong, modern army to deal with any war.
According to state news agency KCNA on February 26, the above call was made by Chairman Kim Jong-un during a visit to Kang Kon Military Academy.
During his visit, Kim Jong-un criticized the poor management and operations of educational institutions, saying that the schools failed to meet the requirements of modernity and advancement in building a powerful army.
He set out tasks to renovate facilities and enhance practical education, to help students gain practical experience in modern warfare as well as master advanced weapons and technical equipment.
Chairman Kim Jong-un said: "The current international situation... requires the armed forces to be perfectly ready for war."
This week, Mr Kim Jong-un also visited Kim Il-sung Political University, another elite training facility, where he called for loyalty and sacrifice from the military.
Earlier, in 2024, North Korea's frontline military units received 250 new-generation tactical ballistic missile launchers in a handover ceremony. These systems are domestically produced. North Korea asserted that this is a modern tactical attack weapon.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Chairman Kim Jong-un stressed that the important task of strengthening the country's military power had been successfully accomplished. He praised the efforts of workers, scientists and employees in the North Korean defense industry.
