Chairman of Hai Duong City Red Cross Society honored as outstanding national voluntary blood donor

On the morning of June 15, Ms. Dung and other delegates were honored to attend the ceremony to report achievements to Uncle Ho at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and were met, encouraged, and awarded by Party and State leaders at the Presidential Palace.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung was born in 1975, originally from Bac Ninh City, and was born and raised in Hai Duong City. In 2000, she started working at the Hai Duong City Red Cross Society. She has held the position of Vice President of the City Red Cross Society since 2008 and President since 2016.

Ms. Dung donated blood for the first time in 2008. Over the past 17 years, she has donated blood 43 times, including 4 times directly donating blood to save the lives of emergency patients at several hospitals. She said she is completely healthy despite having donated blood continuously for the past 17 years.

She actively encouraged her family members and friends to donate blood. Her eldest son has donated blood 10 times, and her husband has donated blood twice.

As Chairwoman of the Hai Duong City Red Cross Society, Ms. Dung and the association's leadership have actively and proactively implemented many movements and activities effectively. In recent years, the association has always exceeded the voluntary blood donation target assigned by the Provincial Red Cross Society. In 2023, the entire city mobilized 1,729 units, exceeding the target by 629 units. In the first 5 months of this year, Hai Duong City has organized 3 blood donation campaigns, collecting 1,259 targets, reaching 84% of the assigned target for the year.

Since 2016, the City Red Cross Society has been repeatedly awarded at all levels. Ms. Dung has continuously achieved the title of grassroots emulation fighter since 2016, and has been awarded certificates of merit four times by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mung, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hai Duong province, said that every year, Hai Duong has cases honored as typical voluntary blood donors nationwide. Ms. Dung is an energetic, enthusiastic, responsible cadre who has made many contributions to the province's Red Cross movement.
