On July 26 (US time), President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis visited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations.
Mr. Dennis Francis expressed his condolences and deepest condolences from himself and the entire United Nations General Assembly to the Government, people of Vietnam and the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The President of the United Nations General Assembly emphasized that the General Secretary's leadership, dedication, and wholehearted service to the country left indelible marks in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
Closing the two days of national mourning, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations welcomed nearly 100 delegates who came to pay their respects and sign the condolence book to express their respect, condolences and gratitude to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis, many Ambassadors and Chargé d'Affaires of delegations to the United Nations, the Chairman of the Communist Party of the United States, representatives of left-wing movements in the United States, representatives of the New York City Government, representatives of the Vietnamese community, Vietnamese officials and students in New York and the surrounding area, and many American and international friends close to Vietnam.
In recent days, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations has also received many letters and messages of condolences from the diplomatic corps and partners and friends in the host country.
