In recognition of the outstanding contributions and achievements of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party and State have respectfully awarded him the Gold Star Order, the most noble award; but above all, he forever belongs to the Fatherland and the people. Indeed, when bidding farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the actions and emotions of tens of thousands of people at the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi), Lai Da village (Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi), Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City), along the roads from the National Funeral Home to Mai Dich Cemetery as well as millions of hearts across the country demonstrated that.

The first day's funeral for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong ended at 12:00 p.m. at the National Funeral Home and at 11:00 p.m. at Lai Da Village and Thong Nhat Hall, later than scheduled. And relatives continued to be present from early morning on the second day at the three above-mentioned locations. After the funeral, in Hanoi, tens of thousands of people respectfully lined up under the scorching summer sun along the route of the funeral procession, from the National Funeral Home to Mai Dich Cemetery, to bid farewell to the true communist.

Camera lenses, video cameras and reporters' pens captured extremely emotional images during the two days of national mourning at both ends of the country.

It was a group of 37 Tay ethnic women in traditional costumes who traveled through the night, traveling 300 kilometers from Lao Cai to arrive early in the morning at Lai Da village (Dong Anh, Hanoi), the hometown of the General Secretary they respected so much. Ms. Luong Ngoc Ha, one of the Tay women in Lao Cai, said that they could not hold back their tears because of their grief for the loss of their country and because they were moved by the deep affection that the people of Lai Da village had for the visitors from afar.

That was teacher Dang Thi Thu Huong (Van Yen Primary School, Ha Dong, Hanoi), who stayed up all night on July 25 outside the National Funeral Home, hoping to visit the General Secretary early the next day.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (Binh Duong) brought along a poem she composed about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong waiting to pay her respects to the General Secretary at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of July 26.

That was Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (66 years old, residing in Ben Cat district, Binh Duong province), who left at 3 am to go to Ho Chi Minh City and brought a photo frame with the General Secretary's portrait and a poem she composed herself: "Uncle, you have gone. The people of the whole country are sad and sorry. Your whole life was dedicated to your homeland. For a beautiful and rich country, comparable to the four seas and five continents."

That is the small family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tham (residing in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province). She visited the General Secretary in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of July 25 and returned home. However, because the children (5 and 7 years old) expressed their wish to "visit Grandma Trong", on the morning of July 26, she brought her two children back to the Reunification Hall...

The sadness and tears during the farewell ceremony are understandable, expressing the genuine and great feelings that the Vietnamese people have for the leader of the Party and the country, who has devoted himself to the Fatherland, is an exemplary model of revolutionary ethics and the uncompromising spirit of fighting corruption and negativity.

The noble and pure image of the General Secretary during his lifetime strongly aroused in the minds of people of all generations and sectors national pride and belief in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland led by the Party.

Dong Anh District Party Secretary Le Trung Kien said that the local government and people are making every effort to organize the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his hometown in accordance with the national funeral rites, ensuring solemnity and thoughtfulness. This shows the respect and infinite sorrow of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of Dong Anh for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This is also a form of educating the tradition of patriotism and revolution in the entire Party and people, especially for the current young generation so that young people can follow in their ancestors' footsteps.

Then Trung Thanh, a Nung ethnic, traveled 340km from Xin Man (Ha Giang province) to Hanoi to visit the General Secretary with the thought: "I have admired the General Secretary for a long time and think this is the time for Vietnamese people to come closer together, so I decided to go to Hanoi to visit him."

As for young Quynh Anh (Ho Chi Minh City), she shared: "Uncle Trong's ideology, ethics, and lifestyle help me strive every day. Thanks to him, I have found my own goals. For me, becoming an adult before being successful is a big goal that I must achieve, becoming a diligent, frugal, honest, upright, and impartial person."

The Vietnamese people who were unable to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always turned their thoughts to the leader who had just left us, expressing their trust in the Party and determination to contribute to building the Fatherland.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoa (a veteran with more than 55 years of Party membership) watched the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the News Television channel with overwhelming emotion. He confided: Throughout the past time, the General Secretary, the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Party Central Committee have united in leading and directing the entire Party and people to resolutely build and protect the Fatherland on the path of socialism. The General Secretary is the greatest helmsman. The General Secretary has always been exemplary, simple, close to the people, listened to the people and in all policies and guidelines always took the people as the root and foundation to build and rectify the Party and build the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam, resolutely fighting corruption and moral degradation.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoa firmly believes that the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Party Central Committee will turn grief into more positive, drastic and effective actions.

Carrying out the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Abyei, a disputed area between Sudan and South Sudan (Africa), the soldiers of Uncle Ho's Army wearing blue berets are also thinking about the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Head of the Working Group at the UNISFA mission, shared with reporters of the Vietnam News Agency: We respectfully bow to bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. We would like to engrave in our hearts the advice: "The Army needs to participate more actively and responsibly in the peacekeeping activities of the United Nations", thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the "5 determinations, 5 initiatives" that the General Secretary assigned to the Vietnam People's Army.

Millions of people, including many young people of the future generation who are embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, expressed their feelings on this occasion because of the achievements that the Party, the State and the General Secretary personally brought to Vietnam. These are peace, stability, improved socio-economic life and increasingly enhanced position in the international arena. Before the departure of the General Secretary, all people unanimously believed under the leadership of the Party, determined to continue to strive to complete the development goals as set out by the 13th National Congress of the Party.

The thoughts and feelings that the Vietnamese people have for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are completely true to the words of President To Lam, Head of the Funeral Committee, in the Eulogy read at the General Secretary's memorial service: "The legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will live forever in Vietnamese history, will be inherited and further promoted in the renovation process; successfully realizing the goal of building a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam that he cherished, strived for, and sacrificed for all his life."
